The City of Norfolk and Nauticus, the National Maritime Center are seeking an experienced Maritime Center Specialist I for the Housekeepi! ng unit at Nauticus.
Work involves performing tasks necessary to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment. Location: Maritime Center/Nauticus, One Waterside Drive, Norfolk.
Essential Functions:
Performs frequent thorough cleaning of both public and private areas within the Maritime Center.
Maintains the cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the facility including polishing, dusting, mopping, vacuuming and keeping areas free of litter.
Maintains cleanliness of all restrooms, ensuring each facility is stocked with supplies and all equipment is in good working order.
Empties trash receptacles, replaces liners and removes all collected materials to the designated area.
Interacts with guests in a friendly, helpful and positive manner.
Maintains thorough knowledge of all Nauticus facilities, exhibits, programming and policies.
Assists guests having special problems, questions or complaints.
Ability to stand and! walk for extended periods of time, lift from ground to above ! shoulder, climb, bend, stoop, sit, push, pull and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 or more years experience in custodial/ housekeeping services.
Additional Information & Requirements:
Work hours: Operating hours from Labor Day to Memorial Day are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday Operating hours from Memorial Day to Labor Day are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday *Hours fluctuate and may include holidays, weekends, and evening hours.
