Provides support for all horse and carriage ride operations also horses used by actor interpreters
Provides pasture maintenance in and around historic area
Drives and maintains machinery, and implements use by the department
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Final candidates are to present in person to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Employment Office a valid driver's license and an original Motor Vehicle Record transcript (MVR). The MVR is to be no older than 30 days, issued by the same state as the driver’s license, and must cover the past seven years.
Ability to drive trucks, trailers, and tractors
Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions
Possess good communication skills
Must possess the ability to work as a team
Must display a willingness to work with other departments doing community and special events
Acquire knowledge of stable operations and present tours of facility
Willingness to assist with livestock
Willingness to work in colonial costume
Work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays
Be available for work on emergency basis, seven days a week, 24 hours a day
General knowledge and practical skills in working with horses, usually gained through at least 4 years of working with horses; experience gained in any combination of education and experience that fulfill the responsibilities of the job.
Good communication skills usually gained through high school education/G.E.D.
Physical requirements include but are not limited to:
(1) bending; (2) stooping; (3) squatting; (4) kneeling; (5) pushing/pulling;(6) reaching; (7) lifting up to 100 lbs; (8) unloading large quantities of hay; (9) working outside in all weather conditions on uneven ground
