Description
The
Systems Engineer for Enterprise Management (EM) Tools
is responsible for analysis, design and configuration of all EM products in the next generation datacenter to support the monitoring and metrics associated with Service level monitoring. This person will provide all configuration information required to properly monitor the project infrastructure as well as integrate applications into the project's monitoring environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the implementation of the projects Enterprise Monitoring (EM) solution using BMC ProactiveNet Performance Manager (BPPM), BMC Portal (BPM), BMC TM-ART/REM, and BMC ADDM
Work with external contractors to integrate the projects EM solution into the clients overall Enterprise solution
Assist in managing the projects event management process
Assist in developing metrics reports using data collected from BPPM
Work with project functional teams to collect events from the project's managed devices
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain an SCI
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field; or 4 years related experience
Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an IT related field

Hands on recent use and knowledge of specific products and related technologies:
BMC Performance Manager
BMC Event Manager
BMC Service Impact Modeler
HP OpenView Network Node Manager
Concordia eHealth monitoring tool
MS Visio
MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel
Knowledge of BMC Remedy, Atrium CMDB, BMC ADDM, BMC BPPM, BMC BPM, BMC TM-ART/REM
Explain complex concepts clearly using terms appropriate for the audience.
Documentation of technical process/procedures applicable to skill set
Escalate conflicts in a timely manner to senior members of the team
Participate and lead in analyzing unique issues, systems or problems having large or total organizational impact.
Proactively updating the status of a particular issue/problem to appropriate stake holders
Research and identify potential resolutions to issues through external resources (knowledge base, internet, etc)
Basic programming or scripting skills w/High level understanding of application architecture and familiarity with .NET, ASP, SQL, COM and other development frameworks
VMware Virtualization Experience
Prior experience setting up BMC to monitor the following: Servers (Dell, SUN); Databases (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server); Networks (Cisco, Juniper); Storage (NetApp)
Understanding of SAN/NAS/DAS technologies
Understanding of Server Hardware (Dell, Sun)
Understanding of TCP/IP, SNMP, Event logs, etC.
