Application Support Developer

Candidate will be responsible for detailed technical designs and development of applications using existing and emerging technological platforms. The candidate will perform software development projects with responsibility for overall delivery of software components. The candidate will document design decisions, adheres to existing process guidelines, develops software components, supports QA during testing, and has oversight during implementation into production.
Responsibilities:
- Partners with Business Analysts, Client and Management team to ensure requirements are addressed within System Requirements and Design
- Define and document architectural decisions and help set and maintain standards
- Leads technical conversations and resolves design decisions
- Ensures alignment of project delivery timelines, quality, and architecture.
- Designs and codes programs; creates test transactions and runs tests; revise! s as necessary.
- Conducts analysis of organizational n! eeds and goals for the development and implementation of application systems.
- Reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems, including encoding, testing, debugging and installing for a large-scale system. The candidate will maintain records to document program development and revisions.
- Monitors operating efficiency of existing application systems.
- Will handle Second Tier Analyst support duties for internally and externally developed applications.
- May assist with Disaster Recovery scenarios
- Reviews requirements, design and implementation plans and is accountable for ensuring that design and development is in compliance with standards.
- Serves as the escalation point for technical issues and drives resolutions.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or other discipline that provides analysis and ! programming experience or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years experience in Information Technology
- 1+ years experience with web services design and development
- 2+ years experience with relational databases (Oracle, DB2, MySQL)
- 2+ years experience with PHP, Java
- 2+ years experience with development within the UNIX operating system environment.
- 5+ years experience working with projects of minor to moderate complexity
- Prior experience in supporting Enterprise Content Management (IBM Filenet P8), Document Management, Imaging Business Processes, Websphere, and/or JBoss
- Ability to design domain specific technology solutions and guide their development through implementation.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple technical and non-technical teams to deliver solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills with the ability to communicate! with both technical resources and senior management.
- Experien! ced in Java and web services design and development (SOAP, J2EE, JMS, and MDB).
- Experienced in Object Oriented Design.
- Working knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture.
- Experienced in Linux/UNIX platforms.
- Experience in data mapping relative to implementation and design.
- Experience working in an Agile or ITIL development environment.
- Sun Java Programmers Certification
- SQL development and administration
- Focused and action-oriented; pragmatic and self-disciplined; good at team motivation and delegation.
- Self-driven and resourceful to achieve goals independently as well as work well in groups.
- Flexibility to adjust to changing requirements, schedules and priorities.
- Excellent communication, writing, meeting facilitation and presentation skills including presenting technical design, technical solutions and enterprise architecture solutions to executives and customers.
