Receives, interprets and transmits emergency information via telephone, radio, teletype and comput! er terminal; does related work as required. Essential Duties
Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, County, State and federal regulations governing transmissions by radio, telephone and teletype; knowledge of, or the ability to learn, the geography of this County and of the surrounding jurisdictions, with emphasis on the major streets and highways; data entry skill; ability to speak clearly and distinctly; ability to hear; ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to analyze situations, and to react swiftly and rationally in high stress situations, utilizing appropriate methodology and resources; ability to deal with citizens who are requesting aid or assistance, usually in stressful situations; ability to operate a computer terminal keyboard. Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school and one (1) year of public contact, communications or related experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required! knowledge, skills and abilities. Additional Information
M! ust successfully complete all pre-employment skills assessments and testing. Must be willing to work assigned shift. Must successfully complete all State mandated certification programs, including the Emergency Medical Dispatcher program within Division-established time frames.
A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
The expected hire date for this position is September 9, 2013. You must be 18 years of age or older by this hire date to be eligible for employment in this position.
