The Vice President, Direct Response Fundraising will lead the strategic planning and execution of a variety of direct response donor campaigns, including channels new for the USO such as DRTV. The VP will be a game changer for USO donor acquisition and
retention strategies, helping shape the fundraising engine that will sustain the USO mission.

Responsibilities/Duties

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE THE VP, DIRECT RESPONSE FUNDRAISING?

You need to b! e a direct response fundraising expert, with expertise leading! successful multi-channel campaigns including DRTV, telemarketing and email. That means you have vision and are driven by implementation to meet fundraising budget goals.

You need to be astute at managing relationships, both internally and externally.

You need to excel at change management. Able to build strong business cases for changes you will implement. Change is never easy, and change management is at the heart of this position.

Like any USO leader, you need to demonstrate integrity and trust; respect and appreciation of colleagues; a drive for results; focus on the USO customer experience; strong business acumen; strategic agility; and managerial courage.

KEY PRIORITIES INCLUDE:
Develop the strategic plan to support and drive short- and long-term integrated direct response fundraising and stewardship efforts targeted at mid-level and small donor supporters.

Cultivate and manage key strategic vendor partnerships a! nd volunteer partners. Oversee maintenance and tracking of direct response donor retention programs and membership strategies.

Oversee concept development, production and execution of new and existing direct response fundraising program activities.

Manage outreach, ad placement, scripting, and message integration for direct mail, online/web fundraising, television, and telemarketing efforts ensuring delivery of consistent yet powerful and compelling messaging.

SOME KEY PROJECTS INCLUDE:
Manage DRTV execution and strategies.

Leverage campaign and donor database analytics to develop effective data-driven direct response initiatives.

Implement a successful sustainer program.

Required Qualifications

Must be a strong advocate of the USO’s mission to lift the spirits of US troops and their families.

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field. Master’s Degree pref! erred.

10+ years work experience in a direct response fundrais! ing management role, including at least 5 years in middle or senior management. Relevant experience generating multi-million dollar revenues for a not-for-profit or charity organization preferred.

Demonstrated ability to create and lead high-performing teams. Ability to work collaboratively on cross-functional teams with integrity and professionalism.

Advanced knowledge of effective direct response, mid-level, sustainer and planned giving techniques and best practices.

Exceptional interpersonal organizational and time management skills.

Demonstrated proficiency interpreting and understanding financial statements. Ability to perform basic business functions including project management and budget development/reconciliation.

Knowledge of various software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook. Prior experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred.

Demonstrated initiative/s! elf-motivation and attention to detail.
