Call/Contact Center Agent (Outbound)

Chief Purpose of this Position

This position serves as a primary point of communication for the patients of VCU Dental Care. Utilizing superior customer service skills, the agent will place phone calls to patients and third parties related to revenue cycle management. Types of communication includes the following:

  • Contacting patients awaiting new appointments.
  • Contacting patients who have expressed interest in the practice via an outreach event.
  • Contacting insurance companies to verify benefits and gather coverage information.
  • Contacting insurance companies to inquire about claim status.

As needed, the agent will accept incoming phone calls to the practice and will offer general information, schedule initial appointments, and forward calls to the proper practice if necessary. The agent will also assist other members of Patient Business Services when call volume is low, to include processing of mail, entering payments and managing patient charts.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required

Excellent customer service skills, especially in a Call Center/Contact Center environment.

Proficiency in Windows-Based computer software.

Working knowledge of dental benefit plan information, and dental terminology.

Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in an open-office, team-oriented environment.

Ability to work in a paperless environment.

Education level and experience required

Required:

Two years' working experience in a dental or medical office, or health/dental insurance environment.

High-school diploma or equivalent.

Hiring Range: $13.00 - $15.50 per hour, based on relevant work experience.
