The George Mason University, Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning (LGBTQ) Resources within the Office of Diversity Programs and Services invites applications for the new part-time (.8 FTE, with benefits) position of Program Coordinator.
The Program Coordinator position is responsible for managing and assisting in the fiscal, administrative support, and programming activities for the LGBTQResources office in consultation with the Associate Director.
Responsibilities include: fiscal, data/information, and communications management; program and event planning, management and assessment; designing educational materials, instruction and training; advising students and student organizations; and providing additional administrative support for theLGBTQ Resources Office.
Qualifications:
â" A masterâs degree in higher education, student affairs administration, women and gender studies, social work, counseling, or a related field; or a bachelorâs degree in a relevant field, plus at least two years of experience in student affairs working with diverse student populations (preferably the LGBTQ population);
â" Experience in counseling or advising students and/or youth;
â" Demonstrated administrative/organizational skills and experience including fiscal management, program development, implementation and evaluation, and training/facilitation;
â" Strong written and oral communication skills;
â" Strong computer skills and familiarity with database, publishing, social networking, and Web site development programs and systems;
â" Demonstrated commitment to the ethical development of students, to social justice, and understanding of the intersection of identities and oppressions; and
â" Availability and willingness to work some nights and weekends in both structured and unstructured settings with students.
