NetWitness Corporation, an information security software product company based in Reston, VA., is seeking mid-level candidates for software product testing, systems analysis, performance monitoring and tuning, and lab simulations. The ideal candidates will have majored in Computer Science or Engineering, with a BS degree or equivalent experience. Successful candidates will use engineering principles to verify correct operation of the existing product code base and will highlight specific areas for improvement for the development team.

If you are a systematic problem solver, can thrive in a lab environment, have a strong grasp of information security product principles and can naturally identify issues/problems and determine their causes, then this is the job for you. Successful candidates will be those that can immerse themselves in an unfamiliar product, quickly understand its operating nature and can clearly and systematically document issues and deficiencies and work with software developers in addressing those issues prior to fielding products and releases.

This job will afford the candidate the opportunity to work on a cutting edge software product in the information security field. The small team environment is fast paced and agile, which will provide a successful candidate with an environment conducive to constant creativity and innovation.

Requirements/Experience:

  • Experience in IP networking concepts (i.e. packets, routing, switching, taps vs. SPAN ports, IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, network OSI model, frame types, network and application protocols, etc.)
  • A strong understanding of detection techniques and patterns for malicious software and mis-configurations across multiple operating systems, including Windows and Linux.
  • A strong understanding of performance measurement techniques for measuring memory utilization, disk-write speeds, etc. in multithreaded and multiprocessor environments. Experience in hardware optimization, driver configuration, and general operating system configuration under Linux and Windows server environments is a big plus.
  • Must be very detail oriented, thorough in understanding requirements, and able to thrive in a team environment where there is a dependency on others to complete projects. Must be organized and able to communicate and document test results in a clear, concise manner.
  • Must be a self-starter; a highly motivated individual. Must also be a team player who can adapt to changes in requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Extremely strong written and verbal (English) communications skills required.
