Job Description Forward Air Solutions, Inc., a pool retail provider, seeks a Dock Operations Supervisor for its RIC facility located in Henrico, VA to supervise and coordinate all activities of dockworkers and other supp! ort personnel. The supervisor will provide planning for, direction to, and will control available resources associated with the timely, damage-free, and safe loading/unloading of freight on assigned shifts. In addition, the supervisor will provide dockworker training, performance feedback, and provide disciplinary recommendations when necessary. Previous experience with cargo operations a plus. Physical labor is required. Job Description Ensure all work is performed according to Forward Air approved procedures, standards, and specifications for dock operations. Directly supervise all activities of dockworkers and support personnel engaged in loading and unloading trucks and trailers. Assign job tasks to workers according to unloading and loading schedules. Maintain appropriate load plans. Ensure proper load balance to ensure safe vehicle operation Coordinate work assignments, monitor performance, and provide training on relevant job duties. Provide a clean safe working envi! ronment for all personnel and visiting customers. This will be! a 2nd shift position Sunday thru Thursday
Job RequirementsPreferred Applicants will possess the following abilities: Previous supervisory experience in a high-volume, fast paced environment General freight knowledge forklift experience a plus Must have Basic PC skills including Microsoft Office products Word and Excel Must have Knowledge of proper freight handling techniques
