Job DescriptionKTSi Job Title: Principal Process Engineer, Level 3Reports to: KTSi DirectorDate: June 2013Key Role: The Senior Engineer will use theories and principles from the sciences to for! mulate viable solutions to complex problems. He will be required to manage critical projects and coordinate the duties and assignments of other, less experienced staff engineers to accomplish this. He will oversee a variety of engineering work, done by contractor Engineer/Scientists including, designing, constructing, manufacturing, of studies/payloads/spacecraft, and conducting basic and applied research to evaluate adaptability of materials and equipment to space design and manufacture.Key Duties and Responsibilities: 1.Performs general systems engineering support to the government Chief Systems Engineer. 2.Attends Integration and Test meetings and activities as tasked by the Chief Systems Engineer.3.Use vital knowledge and experience to guide and supervise key staff involved in project development. 4.Functions as the primary interface between the prime and government to ensure system level requirements are consolidated, packaged and sent to the engineering review boards ! in a timely fashion.5.Makes recommendations to the government ! to improve processes and/or procedures during the system level requirements verification.6.Provides analysis on system level testing events as tasked by the Chief Systems Engineer.7.Provides a weekly status report to the Chief Systems Engineer and the Program Manager on the progress of the Systems verification campaign.8.Author program documents (e.g. TRD, RFPs, SOWs) 9.Must possess business acumen in addition to possessing necessary scientific and project management knowledge10.Must have a working knowledge of ground and spacecraft development, system acquisitions, and test, specifically in Air Force and DoD environments, covering the DoD 5000 series.Location/TravelThis position is located in Chantilly, VA. Travel can be anticipated at less than 20% of total time.Education Qualification, Experience and Skills: B.S. or Masters in engineering, math or science fields and a minimum of 10-15 years' experience requiredCritical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the! strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.Time Management - Managing one's own time and the time of others.Active Learning and Problem Sensitivity - Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making, and the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
