The Lead Dual Diagnosis Counselor will coordinate the design, implementation and evaluation of individual treatment and discharge plans. To provide clinical services (mental health and substance abuse) to residents of the Early Recovery Unit and coordinate service delivery to that population. Will assist in the development of curriculum and schedule for Detoxification residents, as well as Early Recovery residents, and be available to assist with assessments and clinical services as needed in Detoxification. Principal function is to assist residents of the unit to maintain and s! trengthen their commitment to sobriety while maintaining a sta! bilized mental/psychiatric status. The LDDC serves as lead supervisor on the unit in the absence of the Substance Abuse Program Director. This includes rotation of on-call coverage.

REQUIREMENTS:
Master's Degree from an accredited college or university; in a clinical field (such as social work, counseling, psychology, or extensive therapies); with course work in chemical dependency is preferred. Must have extensive experience working in residential settings, and experience in counseling. Dual diagnosis experience is preferred. Seven years work experience and certification as a substance abuse counselor may be substituted for educational requirements.

Must have knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of substance abuse and mental health counseling; knowledge of the formulation, planning and evaluation of individualized treatment plans, ample knowledge of community resources. Must have knowledge and experience in the assessment of cli! ents, and familiarity with the DSM IV; ability to communicate ideas clearly, concisely, and effectively ? both orally and in writing; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, clients and families and other agencies. Must be able to provide supervision as needed and be knowledgeable of personnel practices. Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish is preferred.

Additionally, he/she must complete social detoxification training. Driving and/or transporting clients is a responsibility of the position. Selected candidates must be privileged to drive according to the criteria set forth by Agency MVR guidelines and must possess a valid driver's license. Selected candidates must pass all pre-employment requirements, which include criminal background check, FBI check and drug/TB screening.
