Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Director, Technical Operations, the Operations Manager will implement programs and procedures that ensure that all technology systems, products and services meet minimum company standards and end-user requirements. The Operations Manager will perform workflow analysis and recommend quality improvements to ensure effectiveness and efficiency leveraging best practices in incident and problem management, configuration management, performance & reliability, 3 rd party operational management and business & production support. Areas of specialty may include business continuity, release management, ve! ndor management, ITIL, Agile, technology operations, compliance, information security, service delivery, integration and convergence, etc. He/she will identify the key customers and stakeholders of each team project and ensure that the services of Technology aligned to meet business needs. The Operations Manager oversees the running of:
Daily operations, such as ongoing feature development, support and deployment
Maintenance, including regression testing, product/platform upgrades, release management and communications
Support (critical live environment issues) and escalation procedures

Other Key Relationships: Web Development Team, e-Commerce Marketing Team
Major Responsibilities:
Endeavor to define common processes and procedures, policies, roles, responsibilities, terminology, best practices and st! andard
Work across multiple teams to coordinate operational ac! tivities and manage dependencies
Work with offshore and vendor development, support and maintenance teams to tightly integrate them into the operational workflows for running an enterprise
Facilitate the process of retrospectives and post mortems, and document learnings to improve process
Analyze risk and mitigation accordingly, including establishing contingency plans and initiating corrective action
Track and report key operational metrics
Keep all stakeholders informed of status and issues
Manage relationships with the Product Team and/or stakeholders
Coordinate participation of different tech and business groups in requirements gathering, specifications, design, development and implementation of key deliverables
Ideal Experience
The ideal candidate for the Operations Manager at The Teaching Company will have:
6 - 10 years of related experience
Bachelorâs degree or equiva! lent
Project management in a technology environment
Experience working within a media company and/or in an online businesses/ e-commerce environment
Working with software developers, technical and business management, department heads, product developers and QA teams
Proficiency in enterprise project and task tracking software
Ability to lead and motivate people to encourage performance and teamwork
Ability to understand technologies applicable to a chosen product or service and facilitate resolution of technical issues as they arise
ITIL, Agile, and/or PMP certification a plus
Strong leadership and communication skills
Superb written and verbal communications and presentation skills
