Baggage Inspector/Personnel Screeners provide security-related screening of passengers and their baggage on military! flights.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Will screen all individuals who enter the Air Terminal, together with their personal baggage. “Screen†means that the individuals and their baggage are monitored for illegal material using the available x-ray, explosive and narcotics detection, magnetometer, hand held scanning equipment, and video monitoring camera and recording/playback equipment. Illegal material includes weapons, explosives, narcotics, and any other materials which are unauthorized for air transportation.
Passengers and their respective baggage which cannot be verified as being safe for onward passage require the contractor to activate the duress alarm at which point the Government’s security personnel will take over the situation.
Will also operate, inspect and maintain cleanliness of all screening equipment.
Newly hired employees will be required to complete on-the-job training and become certified in First Aid & CPR! as well as a variety of security equipment.
Quali! fications/Education/Work Experience:
Candidates must meet ONE of the following criteria: Prior military or passenger screener experience, OR Minimum of 6 months experience working in a military, law enforcement or security environment, OR Current military dependent
Must have or be able to obtain and maintain Navy Base access (decals). Candidates with current Base Access are preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively with customers. Position requires lifting, twisting, bending and the ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time. Must pass pre-employment requirements including a criminal background check.
Rate of Pay: $12.01/hour
The Air Terminal is open 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. Shifts will vary depending upon the current scheduling needs and scheduled flights.
