The Position:

Fugees Family is seeking an experienced, high-performing Associate Director of Partnerships to lead our district outreach and business development as we continue to experience significant national growth. This full-time position is remote, with some travel to headquarters in Columbus, OH required. Travel to potential district partners will be needed as well.


The Associate Director of Partnerships will implement the strategy for the adoption of Fugees Family’s school model through Project Teranga. They will work to identify, cultivate, and steward up to 50 district partnerships by 2027. Day-to-day they will cultivate prospects, field meetings with key district decision-makers, and oversee closing deals with schools and districts to meet aggressive growth goals. They will use their experience in sales and marketing or education along with their learnings from conversations with district leaders to help drive the strategic direction of the team. This role will report to the Chief Advancement Officer and work in close collaboration with the HQ Development, Marketing, and Communications team as well as the Teranga team.


An ideal candidate will have experience working in sales in education and/or district partnerships. They will enjoy working in a growing, start-up environment and will enjoy building systems and operations. This position requires someone who is relationship-oriented, resourceful, detail-oriented, and proactive. As we prepare for rapid growth, we are looking for someone to effectively represent the Fugees school model across the country.


This position is a full-time, salaried, exempt position.


Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Goal Setting

  • Develop a target account plan, meeting ambitious lead-generation targets
  • Forecast outcomes and tracking the effectiveness of lead generation efforts, proposing and implementing data-driven improvements to these efforts
  • Codify sales pitch by developing a deep understanding of the needs of prospective district partners and how Teranga can support
  • Communicate learnings about district partners’ needs to the Teranga team to inform the development and improvement of Teranga coaching and support.

Prospect Cultivation & Partnership Development

  • Qualify inbound leads.
  • Conduct thoughtful research on target accounts to turn cold calls into warm calls.
  • Make outbound calls to district-level administrators and school superintendents to qualify leads.
  • Use creativity and excellent communication skills, to initiate quality conversations with target accounts
  • Schedule appointments with key district decision-makers. May sometimes have to make on-site visits to school district offices to initiate conversations with administrators. Estimated travel time is 25%
  • Follow up with qualified leads and close contracts with district partners, facilitating a seamless handoff to the Teranga team.
  • Regularly track and report to the Leadership team on progress toward partnership goals


Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • 4+ years of enterprise sales experience in education
  • Experience identifying, seeking, building, and strengthening partnerships
  • Excellent communicator and listener in-person as well as via phone and email
  • Empathetic and friendly, and enjoys connecting with new people
  • Comfortable with CRM systems, and can track data and use it to support ideas and inform behavior
  • Excellent project management skills with exceptional attention to detail and discipline to organize and prioritize
  • Independent, innovative, and motivated by equity-centered results
  • Ability to manage detailed projects with tight timelines
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, willing to roll up your sleeves to get things done
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a high-paced and dynamic environment
  • Commitment to learning and growing from feedback

  • Citizenship, residency, or work VISA in the United States required


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with a multi-state workforce and remote employees
  • Experience in non-profit and/or school network operations
  • Experience working in a charter school setting is a plus


Salary: $70,000
