Manages and influences profitability of the full-service branches network by expanding and developing the sales culture and sales processes and providing leadership and resources to achieve desired results. Coaches branch personnel to achieve or exceed sales performance goals. Has the ability to coach and manage a sales team to achieve overall sales goals, and meet or exceed established sales goals. Works with the Financial Center Managers to strategically develop action plans to achieve market sales goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Business Development

 Provides guidance and leadership to Financial Center Managers on credit, deposit, online, nondeposit investments and other products to ensure sales goals are met.  Provides and/or recommends training for branch personnel on all bank products; assists managers in developing and implementing a successful, aggressive sales/calling program that targets both existing and prospective customers for all bank products.  Develops an annual business plan in conjunction with the annual budget to achieve corporate growth objectives for the targeted consumer customer and prospects in their respective region.  Maintains an awareness of local market rates and proactively makes recommendations to the Sales and Service Executive on any changes of bank consumer rates.  Assumes leadership role in targeted community organizations and/or participates in community groups/activities/meetings to develop business leads, maintain business connections, and ascertain community needs.  Works with Marketing Department to deliver needs-based marketing packages to increase market share and build customer relationships (number of accounts per customer).  Works in close partnership with financial center managers helping to define sales strategies, structure and solutions for market opportunities. Demonstrates ability to translate long and short-term business development goals into actions such as programs, product delivery and services.  Partners with branches in analyzing the market; provides market data; establishes parameters for and supports branch business development planning.  Reviews and reaches agreement on branch business development plans; synchronizes product campaigns and outside calling.  Partners with financial center managers to develop sales and service standards for each job function and methods for measuring.  Conducts joint calls on customers and prospects with branch managers; coaches afterwards on sales skills.  Solicits input about sales and service obstacles and opportunities from branches during each visit during focused coaching sessions. Identifies problems and develops action plans to resolve.

Leadership

 Identifies needs and responds by consulting with financial center managers on development plans for managers, on the discipline process, on the clarification and application of HR policies, and on programs to address needs.  Ensures that each direct report has a written annual performance plan and annual business development plan and coaches direct reports as necessary to improve knowledge and skills.  Develops and coaches direct reports and their teams to deliver high performance sales and service. Ensures that the responsibilities, accountabilities and authorities of all subordinates are understood; Provides direction for specific training to deliver expectations.  Interacts with partners well and with other bank leaders and strategically sets plans and priorities with other leaders to achieve financial center goals.  Communicates/negotiates staffing and productivity models with financial center managers.  Partners with the Professional Development Center to prepare management development plans for each financial center manager; identifies training opportunities and schedule.  Visits each branch at a minimum monthly and assesses branch environment; congratulates top performing individuals and managers; interacts with staff to identify obstacles/opportunities and ensure a professional businesslike atmosphere exists daily within designated market.  Holds regular meetings with a set agenda to ensure all goals and objectives are being met on a consistent basis.  Participates in individual financial center meetings and observes financial center managers coaching individuals and coaches the managers on future meetings.  Holds scheduled coaching sessions, in person, with each financial center manager and reviews performance of sales and service management system routines; recognizes results and activities; identifies significant variances and potential causes; identifies opportunities and develops action plans.  Conducts regularly scheduled regional sales and service meetings with branch managers on direction and strategy sessions; skill development; product knowledge; and reward and recognition.  Continuously provides information one-on-one in recognition of individual achievements among branch managers and their branch staff and recognizes and rewards actual results.  Regularly informs Retail Sales and Service Executive of achievements of branch managers to aid in providing informal recognition.

Customer Service

 Keeps lines of communication open with Retail Sales and Service Executive and all other business units.  Analyzes the assigned market delivery channels, offices and ATM’s, distributing resources in the most effective means to achieve superior customer service satisfaction, increase market share, while continuing to control costs and increase profits.  Builds partnerships within StellarOne Corporation to foster an environment of teamwork and cross-functional success.  Oversees the successful delivery of retail customer service in respective retail centers.  Represents the financial institution to the community through good customer relations.

Operations

 Participates with the creation, delivery and management of the retail budget through income production and expense controls. Quickly addresses any items not in line on a regular basis.  Communicates and implements changes in company direction as needed to ensure alignment of bank’s goals and strategies.  Monitors and helps to attain internal performance objectives for respective retail offices’ business volume, deposits, loan portfolios, loan quality and quality of audit reports.  Ensures retail offices adhere to all bank policies, procedures, compliance and fair lending guidelines.  Partners with retail operations administrator in resolving outages and security issues as required by operational guidelines.  Measures branch/regional sales and service results, distributes sales and service reports and discusses during branch meetings.  Ensures compliance with all banking laws and regulations that affect retail operations.  Completes annual required compliance training as assigned.  Performs all other duties that may be assigned.

Requirements Education, Skills and Experience Required

 Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field and/or equivalent training and experience  Six to eight years experience as a retail office manager and/or other equivalent job related experience  Extensive background in sales, financial institution product and services knowledge and an understanding of banking and compliance regulations  Excellent business development, prospecting and networking skills  Ability to proactively drive sales to achieve regional sales goals  A keen awareness of the regional market and the communities served by FNB  Active participation in community events and organizations within their respective region  Strong coaching/management skills to lead, manage, motivate, train and develop retail office managers individually and as a group especially with business development efforts to achieve their goals and objectives  Ability to effectively lead change in customer and employee behavior  Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills  Proven sound problem-solving and decision making skills  Knowledge of bank policies and procedures  PC proficiency with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
